Tom is the common factor here. If Tom gets $12 then Dick gets $9 and Harry $14.

so a sum of $35 would be split in the ratio 12:9:14

so $770 (=22x35) is split 22x12:22x9:22x14

so Tom gets $264
and Dick gets $198
and Harry gets $308
